About

Here at Billingshurst Bowling Club we always like to welcome new members.

Presently Club membership is open to all adults aged 18 years and over. Please click the link below to download and view a copy of the Club Membership Application Form.

During April and May each year the Club operates taster sessions to allow newcomers to drop in and have a go. The sessions are free of charge and cater for all levels from absolute beginner upwards. The dress code is casual but flat-soled shoes are essential. All other equipment is available to borrow from the Club, again free of charge.

The Club plays friendly matches against other clubs across West Sussex and Surrey during the summer months. Matches are scheduled every few days on both weekdays and weekends. In addition the Club operates a considerable number of internal leagues and competitions.

Entrance into the friendly matches and club competitions, although entirely optional, is encouraged and welcomed. We find that even those members in full-time employment are able to get out onto the green several times over the summer to enjoy some friendly competition.

Practice night is Friday between 6pm and about 7.30pm depending on the weather and the enthusiasm of those members present. The lure of tea & biscuits later in the session often proves too great!

We hold a number of social events during the year and members enjoy these very much, particularly those in the off-season as they provide a chance to catch up with old friends. Out of season there is typically a Christmas Meal at a local establishment and three or four social afternoons where members enjoy various games and other organised activities. During the playing season we run a Fun Day and towards the end of the summer all members are invited to the annual barbecue.

The Club is entirely self-funding so we are very lucky and privileged to have among our members a small but enthusiastic group who maintain the grounds and out-buildings on a regular basis. The group meets at the Club as required all year round on most weekdays, with Tuesday morning being one of the more popular sessions.

If you are interested in coming along to meet us one Friday then please feel free to just turn up. There is no requirement to book a place or to contact us in advance, but if you have any questions or would like further information before visiting us then we’d love to hear from you.
